The praise for this has been excellant so i was desperate to see what it was like. OK its now crappy horror in the style of say The Purge or the USA Grudges but its all together a different beast. Its more about coping with death and the 2 lead characters are standout. Davies should win awards for the role as the mum and the son is superb. Its slow and creepy rather than gory and jumpy but its effectice. Its also rather ageless and could be set anywhere or anytime. As with most good horrors like Carrie or the Shining its more pyschologal. 4.5/5 |

A well made creepy tale with some stunning scenes and acting. This a classic story remade and it was well worth doing. Some scenes are just breathtaking and Lily Rose Depp was amazing. Eggers is brilliant 4/5
