Todd Haynes is an amazing director and this film is in the same vein as Far from Heaven. Based on a Patricia Highsmith novel about a housewife and shop girl who fall in love. It looks astounding from the lighting to costumes. Its extremely slow but overall watchable and Mara + Blanchett are compelling. Mara in particular blossoms throughout the film and Blanchett has a career best performance here. Its not going to be for everyone as its utterly cold but beguiling 5/5 |

A well made creepy tale with some stunning scenes and acting. This a classic story remade and it was well worth doing. Some scenes are just breathtaking and Lily Rose Depp was amazing. Eggers is brilliant 4/5
